The Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) will inspect the headquarters and county offices of all fully registered political parties as preparations for the 2027 General Election gather pace.

The inspection is scheduled to run from October 5 to 9, 2026, with the regulator checking whether parties have established the offices required by law and are maintaining the necessary statutory records.

Political parties have been asked to submit updated details of their headquarters and branch offices, including the names and contact information of officials responsible for each office, by September 25.

The ORPP will also examine records such as membership registers, party constitutions, policies, nomination and internal election rules, financial records, asset registers and audited accounts. The regulator has previously conducted similar office inspections as part of its compliance mandate.

Under the Political Parties Act, fully registered parties are required to maintain a headquarters and branch offices in more than half of Kenya’s counties. The ORPP says the upcoming exercise is intended to establish whether parties are meeting these legal requirements.

The inspection comes as political parties intensify preparations for the August 10, 2027 General Election, with the ORPP already issuing various timelines covering party nominations, election rules and other pre-election processes.
