Celestin Nsanzuwera secured the Absa Ruiru Invitational title after an impressive final-round performance, carding a 5-under-par 65 to finish the tournament at 10-under-par 200. The victory marked his second Sunshine Development Tour – East Africa Swing title of the season. The Kigali Golf Resort & Villas professional continued the fine form that saw him win the opening leg at Thika Sports Club. Nsanzuwera maintained his lead throughout the final round and completed the tournament without dropping a shot. His closing round featured birdies on the second, sixth, eighth, 10th and 15th holes, giving him a composed and error-free finish. “It feels really good to win again. I played some really good golf today and stayed patient throughout the round. The key was to avoid mistakes and take advantage of the opportunities when they came,” Nsanzuwera said after the victory. The Rwandan earned Ksh 400,000 from the Ksh 2 million prize fund, together with 210 Order of Merit points. He said the back-to-back victories had boosted his confidence ahead of the next event at his home club. Nigeria’s Godwin Okoko finished second after also shooting a 5-under-par 65 to end the tournament at 7-under-par 203. His round included four birdies, an eagle on the par-five 10th and just one bogey on the sixth. The runner-up collected Ksh 227,000 and 172 Order of Merit points, recording his best-ever finish on the Sunshine Development Tour. Kenya Railway Golf Club professional Mike Kisia completed the podium in third place after posting a 3-under-par 67 in the final round. He finished on 6-under-par 204 after making birdies on the fifth, ninth, 10th and 13th holes, with his only bogey coming on the 18th. Kisia earned Ksh 153,000 and 116 Order of Merit points for his performance. The Absa Ruiru Invitational attracted professional and amateur golfers from Kenya and other parts of Africa, with competitors battling not only for prize money but also valuable Sunshine Development Tour Order of Merit, Official World Golf Ranking and World Amateur Golf Ranking points. The tournament was supported by Absa Bank Kenya through its partnership with the Sunshine Development Tour, which seeks to provide emerging golfers with more competitive opportunities and strengthen their pathway into professional golf. The East Africa Swing will next move to Kigali Golf Resort & Villas in Rwanda for the SportsBiz Africa Golf Championship, scheduled for September 11–13. The event will provide Nsanzuwera with the chance to compete on home soil as he looks to continue his impressive run and strengthen his position in the Sunshine Development Tour standings.
