Deputy Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) John Onyango is mourning the death of his wife. NEWSUPDATEKENYA.CO.KE learnt of her passing on Monday, September 8, following confirmation by the Kenya Police Service (KPS). The news has prompted messages of condolence from colleagues and senior officers within the police service. Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat visited Onyango and his family, accompanied by senior officers from the Kenya Police Service and the DCI. According to the KPS, Lagat conveyed condolences on behalf of the entire police service and assured the family of continued support during the difficult period. Onyango, who holds the rank of Senior Assistant Inspector General (SAIG), is a senior officer within the DCI and the wider Kenyan security establishment. His wife's death comes amid several recent cases involving police officers and their families, including deaths linked to illness and reported domestic incidents. In March, Assistant Inspector General Paul Kiprono Langat died after a prolonged illness and was later buried in Bomet County. In another case, Florence Nyagah, the wife of DCI Inspector Daniel Mburu Macharia, was found dead at their Roysambu home in March. More recently, Police Sergeant Gladys Nyaguthie Kirika, stationed at Gachui Police Post in Dagoretti, died on September 3 following a reported domestic dispute. Her husband allegedly confessed to the killing before attempting to take his own life.
